Jim Henson had an idea about domesticated dinosaurs, and his son Brian mew with Michael Jacobs and Bob Young to see if a collaboration might result in finding out why the dinosaurs became extinct. Was it a meteor? Was it the Ice Age? No. Those were trivial compared to what actually happened. Michael, Brian and Bob decided that it was getting married an having children that did them in. Earl Sinclair married his girlfriend Fran. They raised their children instead of eating them. Earl worked at the Wesayso Corporation as a tree-pusher, and dreamed that his children would appreciate him someday. Or at least, his new baby might call him something other than "Not The Mama." As Michael and Bob went forward with the idea, and Pangaea became filled with dinosaur families and corporations, Brian invented state-of-the-art animatronic creations that roamed the soundstages of Hollywood and attracted admiring crowds from other movie and television productions. "Dinosaurs" premiered to glowing reviews and articles about its look, its wit and its biting satire of corporate America. While it attracted kids and teens who came to see a prehistoric comedy, adults completely understood that this was about them. Today. As the Emmy award-winning television show evolved, it won multiple Environmental Media, Genesis and Parent's Choice awards for its exploration of important modern-day issues in the guise of another time. Its audience came to expect not only funny but thought-provoking entertainment as well.
